The company was initially incorporated as Nigerian Thermoplastic Limited (RC No. 3954) on the 18th of November, 1974 but had it’s name changed to Thermosteel Nigeria Limited on 21st August, 1978. The Company grew rapidly and achieved good reputation resulting in patronage by leading companies within it’s geographical location.
Between 1976 and 1992, the company specialized in the construction of barges, underground / surface tanks for oil or water, silos, fabrication / erection of steel structures and pipelines; dry docking of boats and barges (sand / grit blasting, corrosion detection, repairs and painting); construction of trailer tankers, vehicle bodies and sea going vessels.
By middle of 1992, TNL management observed that there existed a vacuum in the oil industry for a comprehensive, well equipped, modern and well run analytical laboratory.
Consequently, the company studied the trends of the business at home and abroad and decided to diversify from its traditional activities to environmental consultancy / analytical laboratory services and has since assumed a leading role in this interesting and highly technical field.
The company has both laboratory and consultancy services divisions. The laboratory is supervised by visiting University Consultants and are assisted by experienced Industrial Chemists, Biochemists, Microbiologists, Zoologists and geologists. The Consultancy Services division comprises the Managing Director, a cream of dedicated and experienced University Consultants and core members of staff from our laboratory.
A marketing department was created in 2005 for sales and distribution, through the internet domain www.labsupplies-africa.com, of analytical laboratory equipment. Presently, the company has obtained the agency for the sales in Nigeria of equiment / software manufactured by the following reputable companies:

- DeltaOhm SPA (Italy)
- Knauer ASI (Germany)
